Mohammad Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai [a] (born 19 May ) is an Afghan former politician, academic, and economist who served as the president of Afghanistan from September until August , when his government was overthrown by the Taliban. Ghani was born in Logar, Afghanistan.

He was elected as the President of Afghanistan on 21 September He resigned on 15 August after going into exile when the TalibancapturedKabul and the Afghan government collapsed.

Ghani was born on February 12, [1][2] On May 2, , he made his first book, called Fixing Failed States: A Framework for Rebuilding a Fractured World.[3] In , he made another book, titled Afghanistan: A Lexicon Ashraf Ghani[4]

Exile

On 15 August , Afghan officials said that Ghani had left the presidential palace that morning, and went to the US embassy[5] and from there he left Afghanistan as the Taliban entered Kabul.[6][7][8]

He is living in UAE (as of 's fourth quarter).[9]
