Champion Jockey Nooresh Juglall tragically dies aged 29 after horrific fall
Mauritian jockey Nooresh Juglall has died at the age of 29 after a mid-race fall at the Champs de Mars on Saturday.
Juglall, who was crowned the champion jockey in Mauritius last season, was riding Rule The Night, and was rounding the bend for the home straight when he fell.
He hit the ground with a heavy impact and another horse nearby also stumbled and appeared to land on top of him.
Juglall was immediately rushed to hospital 'bleeding profusely' before he fell into a coma and tragically passed away.
Tributes have been paid from a number of high-profile figures in the world of racing, including Irish jockey Oisin Murphy, who posted on Twitter : "Rest in peace Nooresh Juglall.
Life is precious.

Woodworth was hurtled away from the saddle towards the outside rails of the last bend, which probably saved him from any more serious injury than a reported broken elbow, but Juglall was unfortunately less lucky.Prayers with your family and friends. Had the pleasure of riding with you in Hong Kong."

Neil Callan added: "We always hope and pray but sadly Nooresh Juglall has lost his battle for life.
The dangers of our sport are always never far away RIP."
And agent J-F Joseph wrote: "Nooresh Juglall was considered as the most prolific and talented Mauritian Jockey of all times along with Karis Teetan.
"He left us yesterday afternoon with all good memories at The Champ De Mars and Kranji.
Rest In Peace buddy. What a charismatic guy he was!"
Sadly, Rule The Night also had to put down, along with another runner, Golden Tractor.
Juglall leaves behind his father Satanand, mother Kavita, sister Sweta and brother Tajesh, who is also a jockey.
Some reports have claimed that the horses were spooked by a track crossing the course, and falsely believed they had to jump it.
And those worries were highlighted by a commentator, who said "they will have to do something about that road" after four horses fell on the opening day of racing.
